The Complete Guide to Workspaces in TabQuell

Learn how to organize your tabs into project-based workspaces for ultimate focus.

What are workspaces?

Workspaces are like virtual desktops for your browser tabs. Each workspace contains its own set of tabs, completely separate from others. Switch between workspaces to instantly change context — from work to personal, from Project A to Project B.

Creating your first workspace

  1. Click the TabQuell icon in your toolbar
  2. Click "New Workspace"
  3. Give it a meaningful name (e.g., "Client Project" or "Personal")
  4. Start opening tabs — they'll automatically belong to this workspace

Switching between workspaces

Click the TabQuell icon and select a workspace from the list. Your current tabs are saved automatically, and the new workspace's tabs appear. It's instant context switching.

Workspace strategies

  • By project: One workspace per client or project
  • By context: Work, Personal, Learning, Entertainment
  • By energy level: Deep Work (few tabs, focused), Research (many tabs, exploratory)

Workspaces + tab freezing

Workspaces work seamlessly with TabQuell's tab freezing. Tabs in inactive workspaces are automatically frozen, using almost no memory. When you switch back, they reload instantly. This means you can have hundreds of tabs across multiple workspaces without performance issues.

Pro tip: Default workspace

Set your most-used workspace as the default. New windows and tabs will open there automatically, keeping your organisation intact.
